It was my first year putting the lights on, and I've gotta say...it's kind of the worst. They stick out in weird places, and my mom always managed to do it so that you could hang heavy ornaments from the wires, but mine just flop down and ruin everything if I try and do that. I do not have her skills.
This year I decided to only put on ornaments that Mike and I have been given or bought as a couple. All of our childhood ornaments are safely tucked away in boxes, likely to never see the light of day again, but it would have been absolute crazy town with all of them on the tree.
Can anyone spot the apparently drunk Christmas chicken in there?
We got our tree last Saturday morning in the pouring rain at Drysdale's Tree Farm. We were less than thrilled, and likely will find somewhere else to go next year. I realize I may have been spoiled by growing up going to a tree farm with well cared for and pruned trees for just $25 (GoGo's Christmas Tree Farm in Nanaimo, BC!), but who knows. I won't even tell you how much we spent on this tree, unless you ask in the comments. Ha!
Despite the fact that the quality and price of the trees left something to be desired, we had a great time, and Tahsis enjoyed herself, too. She was so tired when we got into the truck to go home, and pretty much slept for the rest of the day.
She was filthy, and of course I forgot a towel to wipe her off. I told Mike that I'd get his truck cleaned for him one day, haha.
